7th International Staff Week Held at the University of Kragujevac

From May 26 to 30, 2025, the University of Kragujevac organized the 7th International Staff Week, this time in the format of a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) – an innovative model of academic exchange within the Erasmus+ programme. This also marked the first time the University of Kragujevac took on the role of coordinator and designer of such a program.

During the week, the University welcomed teaching and administrative staff from partner institutions in 11 countries: Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Czech Republic, Poland, Uzbekistan, Russia, Algeria, South Africa, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

The central theme of this year’s International Week was:
“Modernization of Curriculum as a Catalyst for Mobility and Internationalization”,
with a focus on the internationalization of higher education, curriculum enhancement, and the importance of academic mobility.

Through lectures, discussions, workshops and institutional presentations, participants exchanged experiences and addressed common challenges, despite differences in higher education systems. Special emphasis was placed on the development of study programs in foreign languages, as well as the need for systemic support for teaching staff in improving language competencies—considered a key factor for the successful internationalization of academic offer.

Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to learn about the University of Kragujevac’s achievements in internationalization, including the development and implementation of the EMMBIOME Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme and other English-taught study programs. The outcomes of the EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) project were also presented, with a focus on practical models for supporting professors who teach in a foreign language.

In addition to the academic component, the program included cultural exchange activities—participants attended a Serbian language crash course and had the chance to explore the cultural and historical heritage of the city and of Serbia.

By organizing this International Week, the University of Kragujevac once again affirmed its commitment to academic development and collaboration, internationalization, educational innovation, and enhancing its visibility in the international academic community.
