The highest-rated projects approved through the Public Call for Scientific-Research and Artistic Project Proposals by Young Researchers and Artists at the University of Kragujevac for the 2025/2026 academic year have been formally presented

The 5th Public Call for the submission of scientific-research and artistic projects by young researchers and artists of the University of Kragujevac was announced on September 16, 2025.

A total of 12 projects were submitted, as follows:

• 3 in the field of natural and mathematical sciences
• 4 in the field of medical sciences
• 4 in the field of social sciences and humanities
• 1 in the field of the arts

The Commission, comprising Academician Prof. Dr. Miloš Đuran, Head of the SANU Center (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts), and Prof. Dr. Biljana Petrović, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research of the University of Kragujevac, and chaired by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Ranković, approved a total of five projects: two in the field of natural and mathematical sciences, one in medical sciences, one in social sciences and humanities, and one in the arts.

Academician Miloš Đuran, Head of the Center for Scientific Research of SANU and the University of Kragujevac, and prof. dr Vladimir Ranković, rector of the University of Kragujevac, spoke about the aims and character of the Funding Program.

The leaders and team members of the selected projects presented the content of their work, as explained below:

• Project in the field of natural and mathematical sciences, titled Hidden Treasure: The Forgotten Collection of Earthworms (Lumbricidae) from the Balkans (Kragujevac, Serbia – LUMBAK), was presented by the project leader, dr Filip Popović from the Faculty of Science;
• Project in the field of natural and mathematical sciences, titled Utilized Honeycomb as a Source of Bioactive Compounds: From Beekeeping Waste to Dermal Application, was presented by the project leader, dr Nikola Srećković from the Faculty of Science;
• Project in the field of medical sciences, titled Genetics of Cilantro Taste Perception and Cardiovascular Risk, was presented by the project leader, dr Sanja Matić from the Faculty of Medical Sciences;
• Project in the field of social sciences and humanities, titled Measuring the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Socio-Economic Patterns in the Academic Community, was presented by project team members Nemanja Janković and Luka Petrović, PhD candidates and assistants at the Faculty of Law.

For justified reasons, representatives of the project in the field of the arts were not able to present their work.

In her closing remarks, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research at the University of Kragujevac, prof. dr Biljana Petrović, addressed the project leaders and team members. She congratulated the young researchers and artists on the success of their selected projects, underscoring the University’s pride in their innovative work and reaffirming its dedication to supporting them in the further development and implementation of their research ideas.
