The French Ambassador and a representative of the Swiss Embassy visited the University of Kragujevac

On May 27, 2026, the University of Kragujevac was visited by the Ambassador of France to Serbia, Florence Ferrari, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy, Miguel Luis La Plante-Perez. The French delegation also included Thibault Haioun, Cooperation Attaché for the French language.

The Rector of the University of Kragujevac, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Ranković, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Arts, Prof. Dr. Nikola Bubanja, and full professor from the Department of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Philology and Arts, Katarina Miletić, met with the distinguished guests in the Rectorate of the University of Kragujevac.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector emphasized that the visit represents a continuation of the successful cooperation between the University of Kragujevac and the French Embassy, highlighting the results achieved so far in education and science, as well as in the field of bilateral cooperation. During the discussion with the Rector of the University of Kragujevac and his associates, possibilities for further improvement of cooperation in higher education, science, and the mobility of students and academic staff were considered, contributing to the overall social and economic progress of both countries.

Special attention was devoted to academic exchange programs, joint scientific research projects, as well as opportunities for closer cooperation between the University of Kragujevac and higher education and research institutions in France and Switzerland.

Representatives of the embassies emphasized the importance of international cooperation and support for young people through education, the exchange of experience, and the development of intercultural dialogue, while representatives of the University presented the university’s activities and achievements in the field of international cooperation and participation in European programs.

After the meeting, the French Ambassador, together with her associates, delivered a lecture in the Ceremonial Hall to students of the Department of Romance Studies. During the lecture, she spoke about her professional and diplomatic career, the value of learning foreign languages, as well as the significance of intercultural education and international cooperation. Special attention was given to more than 110 years of cooperation between Serbia and Switzerland, emphasizing the importance of educational and cultural ties between the two countries. The students had the opportunity to speak with the distinguished guests and ask questions about international cooperation, academic experiences, and opportunities for further education abroad.
